Born and raised in Kingston, Dr. Dionne Paine grew up watching Dr. Keller, and the team at Cataraqui Pet Hospital care for her family’s long list of pets. She was inspired to move to the East Coast to pursue her passion for learning about animals. She completed her Bachelor of Science with a Certificate in Animal Behaviour at Dalhousie University. She earned her DVM from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 2017. While there, she co-founded the AVC’s Animal Nutrition Club and established its active chapter status with the American Academy of Veterinary Nutrition. She also earned her Fear Free Certification, which focuses on reducing pet fear, anxiety and stress in the veterinary setting. Dr. Paine is excited to be back in the Kingston region. Joining Dr. Keller and his veterinary team feels like coming home.
Dr. Jaime Lawless is originally from Saint John, New Brunswick. She received her BSc with honours in Biology from Saint Mary's University in Halifax and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Atlantic Veterinary College (UPEI) in 2006. Shortly after graduation she moved to Kingston and has been a practicing veterinarian here ever since! She has earned her Elite Fear Free Certification and is a member of the Canadian Association of Veterinary Cannabinoid Medicine. Her special interests include pain management, ophthalmology and internal medicine. In her spare time Dr. Lawless loves to spend time with her family and her kitty, Charlie.
Dr. Hartnett (Dr. Liz) grew up in Kingston and obtained her undergraduate degree in Environmental Biology at Queen’s University. She then moved to Toronto, completed a Masters degree, and began a career in environmental policy. Wanting to do more hands-on work with animals, she spent her Sundays volunteering at a local wildlife rehabilitation centre and soon rediscovered her childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian. Dr. Hartnett followed her heart to veterinary school and graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2018. She gained valuable medical and surgical experience in the Greater Toronto Area before moving back home to Kingston and joining our team in November 2020. Dr. Hartnett enjoys trail running, cross-country skiing and camping in her free time. She shares her home with two cuddly cats, Ziggy Stardust and Rainbow, and is the proud “aunt” of a rescue greyhound named Rufus. She can’t wait to meet you and your furry family members!
Maureen graduated from the Veterinary Technician course at St. Lawrence College in 1984. She has been an AVT at Cataraqui Pet Hospital since 2009. Maureen enjoys spending time with her Basset cross, Buster Brown, as well as her 3 cats, Aramis, Mystique and Rogue.
